Battery Circuit - Overview

1. Description
This is the electrical beating heart of the boat. A circuit that manages the following:
  • Power distribution to and from the batteries (House and Starter).
  • Battery charging sources. There are 4; Solar, Wind, Shore Power and Engine Alternator.
  • Battery charge monitoring. Each battery has a monitor that records and indicates the state of charge.
  • Starter motor battery selection.
  • Engine alternator open circuit protection.
  • Power distribution to the boat, i.e. Anchor Winch, Bilge Pumps, and everything else via the main distribution panel.

2. Touch Points
This circuit is the heart of power management on the boat. There are a few input and output points:
  • Negative Busbar - common negative return for all circuits.
  • House Chargers Busbar - collects charge energy from all charging sources and also distributes to the bilge pump circuit (non-switched).
  • Anchor Winch
  • House Switched Busbar - and hence to the Distribution Panel.
